Hello Everyone!

We know that life is quite challenging right now and that uncertainty levels are high.

Although our sport programmes and events are currently on hiatus, we still wanted to ensure we are doing our part to help you feel uplifted and to encourage you continue to be active during times of self-isolation and solitude.

As it is very important to remain healthy (both mentally and physically), we have complied a list of the various ways in which you can still take part in some form of exercise from the comfort of your home.

Whilst we are advising you to remain active, please do so in line with current government guidelines around isolation and social distancing. As always, please ensure that before engaging in any physical activity you are wearing appropriate clothing and have the necessary space at home to do the activities. Please take guidance from the instructor you are following and note that any activity being done is at your own risk.

Do also bear in mind that keeping fit also could mean doing activities as simple as more time in the garden, taking a brisk walk around the house or even going up and down the stairs a few extra times a day.

Donna Negus – Yoga

Donna has been posting videos of Yoga sequences online for a few days now. They are about 30mins (max), accessible to all ages and abilities and have a focus calmness.

Angela Gill – Pilates

Angela is livestreaming Pilates sessions 3 days a week and is extending the offer to anyone who is interested.

Days/Times: Monday’s at 6.45pm, Friday’s at 9.15am and Saturday’s at 9am.

Joe Wicks - P.E For Kids

Starting Monday 23rd March, Joe Wicks (a.k.a The Body Coach) is going to be hosting a free workout aimed at kids live on his YouTube channel. Workouts will be fun and suitable for all ages.

For individuals with S.E.N.D please like Sunshine Support on Facebook – they have some great online advice and guidance.

We will also be running weekly competitions to keep people active during this period so keep an eye out on Facebook later today for the first challenge and rules.

 

Havering Active Challenge 1 (Monday 23 March – Friday 27 March)

1 - Number of consecutive catches of an object in a socially distanced group.
(Minimum 2 people – no maximum and please wash your hands thoroughly afterwards)

2 - Number of toilet roll kick ups – how many times you can keep a toilet roll up using anything other than your hands.

To enter please comment under the post before 12pm on Friday 27th March with the following:

The total number of your best score for either or both challenges. Please feel free to share a video or selfie of you practicing and tag us so we can see you enjoying the challenge. Once we have a winner we will ask them to verify their score by sending us their video (if not already shared). Once verified, we can keep your details on file and get you a prize when we are all back to business as usual. Please note we will not share any videos on our page unless we have consent to do so when submitting.

Winners will be announced each Monday.
