We are so pleased to share this wonderful news story about one of our own – Olly Flower.

Olly has competed in the Panathlon Challenge and represented Team Havering at the London Youth Games on many occasions over the years.

Today, we are incredibly proud to announce that he is the recent recipient of the Jack Petchey Foundation 'Special Recognition' award for dedication as an athlete and for helping others achieve at Panathlon competitions.

Olly attended Redden Court School here in Havering and was due to attend the Boccia England national team trials just before the pandemic hit. He is a true talent.

Congratulations Olly - you are a superstar! ⭐

We were deeply saddened to learn about the passing of Pete Bruce last week – a much loved and valued member of our Havering Active sport coaching team.

Pete dedicated much of his time and energy towards the development of tennis within the borough and was extremely passionate in doing so. He successfully coached the Havering London Youth Games tennis team for many seasons and regularly assisted with the delivery of our Para Sport programme. He also helped found the Havering Sports Council in 1967 and served as its President.

Throughout the years Pete picked up an array of awards for his lifetime of service to coaching. He has left behind an incredible legacy – both on and off the court – that will carry on for years to come. He was always quick to tell a joke and was a truly genuine, kind and fun guy to be around.

Our thoughts are with his family during this extremely difficult time.

Pete, thank you for all that you have done for us. You will be missed and you will never be forgotten.

Pete Bruce
